      病毒是目前发现的最小病原体，由于能够诱发细胞癌变，所以又被称为病毒致癌因子，属于三种致癌因子之一。病毒诱发人体细胞癌变的主要机制是将自身基因组整合进入人的基因组中。

同一种病毒的不同亚型的感染，病毒基因组的突变，以及病毒基因组在人类基因组上整合位置的不同都会对患者的病理进程、治疗效果以及预后产生影响。因此，对于致癌病毒的基因组研究应该涵盖亚型识别，突变以及整合位点检测三个方面。
